Ph.D. Jeppe Nevers is Professor of Modern History and Director of the Center for Maritime and Business History at SDU.
Trained as a historian at SDU (Ph.D. 2008), Professor Jeppe Nevers has been a visitor at the University of Freiburg, at Harvard University, and most recently he was a visiting scholar at the History Faculty at the University of Oxford and a visiting fellow at Jesus College.
He has directed or co-directed several Danish and international research projects with grants from a range of different funding bodies. He is the recipient of the gold medal of the University of Southern Denmark and the Elite Research Travel Grant awarded by the Danish Ministry of Science, and he has served as consultant to public and private organizations, including the Ministry of Justice and the Danish parliament. He is chairman of the University Press of Southern Denmark.
Professor Jeppe Nevers has written on a wide range of topics in modern Danish and European history, with an emphasis on the history of democracy, business history, and conceptual history. He is currently working on the history of capitalism, with a focus on the Danish experience. He is especially interested in the relationship between democracy and capitalism, and in understanding the history of capitalism as a series of interconnected models with an increasing degree of complexity.
