LITERATURE: Minister of Culture Mette Bock has set up a new national Books Panel, which will be focusing on children, reading habits and digitization. Chairman of this Books Panel is going to be D-IAS Chair Anne-Marie Mai, Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies at the University of Southern Denmark.

“In these years, we see the reading of the Danes changing, and that digital development creates new opportunities: We need to become more intelligent. This applies especially to the new readers – our children and young people. The development also means that we are increasingly meeting literary experiences in social communities. It is precisely in this field of opportunities and challenges that the Books Panel should shed light on the book’s development in Denmark.”

About the new Books Panel, Minister of Culture Mette Bock says:

“Although the book and literature are just fine, and books are published like never before, there is still good reason to carefully follow the book’s development – especially when it comes to children, reading habits and digitization. Therefore, I have set up a new Books Panel and I am pleased to be able to make a strong team with Anne-Marie Mai as Chairman.”

Professor Anne-Marie Mai is a recognized profile in national culture and literature – among other things she has been a member of the former national Literature and Books Panel.
