Most theories of events have focused on how to segment events. The two-vector model I am presenting instead concerns the cognitive structure of events. The key idea is that one vector represents a force (or a force pattern) that functions as the cause and a result vector that represents the effect. The model is developed within the framework of conceptual spaces. I will discuss relations between the event model and theories of causation and naive physics. I will also show how the model can be used to develop a semantics for natural language, in particular for verbs. (The talk is based on joint work with Massimo Warglien.)
