Lecture

Automated decisions and AI systems are becoming part of the democratic process. What challenges do digitalization and AI pose for democratic processes? In this DIAS talk I will provide an overview of the challenges for political actors, public administration, and very importantly, the production, distribution, and consumption of (news) media. What are the consequences of AI for (news) media and citizens? What are some of the regulatory challenges? This talk will provide an overview of the challenges and it will draw on recent (cross-national) survey evidence on how citizens perceive these challenges.
